My Latest Projects

Some of the things I have built with data tools and technologies.

Using built-in scheduling of Apache AirFlow with the extensible document database storage of MongoDB to generate and email automated reports of sensor data.

An overview of how I made a scalable alert messaging service for sending consistent sub-minute email and SMS notifications for outlier sensor data.

A tutorial for how to "dockerize" infrastructure for a self-hosted solution for remote structural health monitoring with a built-in TCP socket application and MySQL database.

Testing a LSTM encoder-decoder model for reliable short-term time series forecasting and anomaly detection.

Showing how to give any MySQL database a secure logical backup with additional read-replicas for read-heavy applications.

Making structural health monitoring more accessible and cross-platform with a user-friendly interface to perform statistical analysis and alert management for wireless IoT sensors.

What I’m Working On

I have spent the last four years working as a Database Administrator/Developer in the structural health monitoring industry, specializing in remote wireless sensor systems, data acquisition workflows, relational databases, and engineering-focused visualization tools. My work has centered on building practical systems that connect hardware in the field to reliable data infrastructure, internal operations, and decision-making tools.

I am now expanding that background into product development engineering, with a focus on circuit-board-based products, remanufacturing workflows, reverse engineering, test development, documentation, and quality-driven production handoff. I am especially interested in the intersection of hardware, software, data systems, and repeatable engineering processes — turning technical troubleshooting into scalable products and workflows.

Across both software and hardware-focused work, I am passionate about building useful tools that help engineering teams move faster, improve quality, and make better decisions through thoughtful system design, automation, and data-driven problem solving.

Experience

Database Administrator/Developer

Resensys LLC

2021 — 2026

  • Optimize and manage MySQL database systems on-premises and AWS RDS.

  • Designed database monitoring systems, significantly reducing query times by 30% through SQL query and index optimization.

  • Build ETL pipelines using Python, Bash, and SQL, processing and integrating vast sensor datasets into actionable insights and dashboards, enhancing data-driven decision-making for over 200 active structural health monitoring projects.

  • Architected real-time sensor alerting system reducing notification lag by 200% for active users.

  • Launched a web interface for real-time sensor data exploration and alert management.

Here I am at a bridge in Florida installing an advanced structural health monitoring system for real-time data collection.

Product Development Engineer

2026 — Present

Circuit Board Medics

  • Apply a background in hardware systems, production IoT, test automation, CAD, and quality-data workflows to support the development of new remanufacturing products from initial opportunity research through launch and post-launch support.

  • Reverse engineer and troubleshoot circuit-board-based products by identifying failure modes, developing validation tests, documenting repair procedures, and turning technical discoveries into repeatable production processes.

  • Build practical engineering workflows that connect product development, quality control, documentation, component sourcing, and production handoff so new repairs can scale reliably.

  • Work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, inventory, sales, marketing, and customer support to align new product launches with customer needs, repair feasibility, cost, supply-chain realities, and continuous improvement goals.
